The Standard Calculator tab allows you to carry out simple arithmetical calculations. It operates in the same way as any pocket calculator. You can click buttons to enter numbers and commands or you can use your computer keyboard.

At the top of the Standard Calculator tab, there are two boxes. The first box displays the results of the calculation. You enter your expression in the second box.

Note: You can type directly in the second box to amend your expression if required. This can be very useful if you are entering a complex expression and have pressed the wrong button. Instead of having to start again, you can correct the mistake in the expression.

Below these boxes are the calculator buttons, including numeric buttons, memory functions and standard operators, as on any pocket calculator.

You can use the calculator to add (+), subtract (–), multiply (×) and divide (÷) numbers. You can also calculate the reciprocal of the displayed number (1/x) and find out square roots (Ö).

The Memory buttons work as follows: MC clears any number stored in memory; MR recalls any number stored in memory, the number remains in memory; MS stores the displayed number in memory; M+ adds the displayed number to any number already in memory.

The remaining buttons work as follows:

If you displayed the Calculator by right-clicking in a dialog box's value or integer box, you can transfer the value using the >> button to the right of the results box.
