The Nominal Error option allows you to set an offset for the model when you are comparing it to another set of data.
For example, if you know that the model has a 2mm film of paint, you can change the nominal error to 2.0 to view the errors caused by the application of the paint film.
Type the depth of the known offset in the Nominal Error box, then click on the Recalculate Errors button.
CopyCAD will now display errors from the model's nominal surface rather than from the actual surface.
Note: The nominal error defaults to 0.0, the actual surface. When you have finished examining the surface for nominal errors, remember to reset this option to 0.0.
You can use the Display Options button to open the Display Options dialog box, with the Errors tab displayed. Here you can change the way colours are used to display the errors, see Display Options – Errors for details.
