A Workplane
is an entity that provides a local workspace for a model, defining its X, Y and Z axis.

When carrying out certain operations, such as offsetting to compensate for the digitising probe radius, you may get better results if you reposition the model so that it has a local X, Y, Z co-ordinate system. In such circumstances, it may be easier to introduce a local workspace by adding a workplane.
An active workplane represents the current workspace.
Any number of workplanes may exist in your model, but only one can be active at a time. You may activate and deactivate workplanes at any time.
You can view and access workplanes using the CopyCAD Explorer. Once you have created a workplane then information about its location and orientation is displayed in the Explorer.
