Surfaces

Surface models can either be imported from another application or generated by creating surfaces on a triangle model in CopyCAD.

Surface data is represented by this icon, , in the CopyCAD Explorer.

You can use CopyCAD to import a surface model from a CAD package such as PowerSHAPE, triangulate it, fix the triangle model, and export it as an STL model for Rapid Prototyping.

Surfacing triangle models allows you to reverse engineer CAD models from digitised point data.

You can import the following types of surface models:

• Delcam Geometry
  
  
• DUCT File
  
  
• IGES
  
  
• VDA-FS
  
  
• CADDS4X.

You can also export surface models in all of these formats, except for VDA-FS.
