Gridline models are created using certain types of laser strip scanners and in PowerSolution's ArtCAM package.
Gridline data is represented by this icon,
, in the CopyCAD Explorer.
Gridlines provide additional information to points or scanlines, and when available should be used in the triangulation process. See Grid Triangulation for details.
They can be created in a number of ways:
You use this method to create a single data set from multiple scans, so that a single triangle model can be created from it. For details, see Offset Scanlines.
You can extract a grid from points or from scanlines to repair damaged point models where points are incorrectly ordered. This solution is only available for point sets that have a regular stepover in both X and Y. Grids can also be generated from regular raster scanline data. For details, see Reorder Model.
