Importing Static Objects via DS Link
Importing Static Objects from DS via DS Link
Bryce makes it extremely easy to import figures and props from DS using the Launch DAZ|Studio button. Scenes can also be set up in Poser, then the Poser scene imported into Bryce via DS.
Bryce treats imported DS objects as primitives, meaning that bones and joints do not transfer between applications.
Bryce creates one object per body part per material. For example, if a finger group has two materials (such as Skin and Nails), Bryce will create Pinky_Skin and Pinky_Nail objects. You can access these objects by ungrouping the imported object(s).
All DS material settings transfer to Bryce. We recommend setting material attributes inside DS to take advantage of the material groups assigned to the DS objects.
To import static objects from DS:
- Launch DS by clicking the Launch DAZ|Studio button located at the right side of the Create palette. DS will be launched.
Please refer to the DS documentation for information on using DS. You can find the DS Artist Guide by selecting Help > DAZ|Studio Help from inside DS.
- Once you have created your DS scene, exit DS OR click on the Return to Bryce button to return to Bryce with your object(s) in your Bryce scene.
If the Return to Bryce button is not visible, choose View > Tools > Bryce while in DS.
- DS will close and Bryce will import the object(s). When the import is complete, your object(s) will be very tiny. This is because Bryce imports static objects at their actual size and not scaled to match Poser.

- To increase the size of the object(s), you can manually resize it by using the Scaling tool or by dragging on the object handles.
However, it is easier to resize using the 3D Transformation tool:
- Click on Edit to bring up the Edit Palette, then click on the triangle under the Scaling tool. Choose 3D Transformations from the menu:

- Enter a percentage in the Size fields, such as 800%, then click on the checkmark to accept the change:

- The object(s) will resize by the entered amount, but may be below the ground plane. Click on the triangle under the Align tool and choose Snap To Ground from the menu:

- The object(s) will snap up to the ground plane and your import is complete:
