Editing Objects Imported via DS Link
While working on your scene, you may find that you need to modify the objects that were imported from DS. This is done by launching DS again, modifying the figure, then exiting DS so that the modified figure and/or animation is re-imported into Bryce.
Keep the following in mind when returning to DS to modify the figure/animation:
When saving your Bryce scene with imported objects from DS, Bryce saves the DS scene along with the Bryce scene and automatically loads it the next time the scene is loaded. The Bryce file contains a live link between the scene and the saved DS scene.
Because of this:
- Deleting a model in either program removes that object from both programs.
- You can edit DS objects in Bryce like any other object. However, if you go back into DS at any time, you will lose those edits since Bryce has to delete the previous object then re-import the new modified object.
- Saving the Bryce scene and closing Bryce does not break the DS link. If you are finished editing the figure/object, break the link to DS so the object becomes a standalone mesh in Bryce.
- If you modified the figure in Bryce by resizing or moving it, re-importing it from DS will place it at the original import location in Bryce. As long as the object size is the same as the original imported object, you can copy the object matrix before returning to DS, then paste the matrix on the re-imported figure in Bryce.
To copy the settings from a DS imported object and paste on to a new version:
- Select the object group(s) in Bryce.
- Choose Edit > Copy Matrix from the menu.
- Launch DS from the Create Palette and modify the figure and/or animation.
- Exit DS and wait for the import to complete.
- Select the object group(s) and choose Edit > Paste Matrix from the menu.
Remember that if the figure parameters have changed so that the object matrix is larger or smaller than before, then using the Copy/Paste Matrix may alter the object incorrectly for the new matrix properties
