Maximum Ray Depth

Maximum Ray Depth lets you control the depth of rays during rendering. For example, if you place a series of transparent objects one in front of the other, the Maximum Ray Depth setting determines how many of these objects the light will pass through (transmissions). This setting also determines the number of times Bryce renders reflective "bounces" (reflections).

To enable or disable Maximum Ray Depth:

  1. Click the triangle icon next to the Render Controls and select Render Options.

  2. Click on the Shadows option to enable or disable it. When a checkmark appears beside the option, it is enabled. When there is no checkmark, the option is off.

  3. Enter a number in the Maximum Ray Depth field. Enter 0 in the field to disable Maximum Ray Depth.
  4. Click on the OK icon to accept the changes.
  5. Render the scene.

See the following two pages for examples of using Maximum Ray Depth.
