Merge

The Merge command allows you to merge a second scene into the currently loaded scene. A standard Open File dialog box appears, allowing you to navigate to the folder containing your desired file and select it for opening. You will be prompted to save any work you've performed on the current scene before the other one is opened. You will not lose any work in the current scene if you decide not to save it first. This action will also clear and reset the Undo/Redo stack.

Objects from the scene you're opening are placed in your current scene at the same absolute coordinates that they previously occupied. Some information from the scene you're opening will be discarded, such as family names.

This feature is quite useful for large scenes where your computer cannot handle the size of the full size of the scene. The scene can be split up into multiple scene files, then merged prior to rendering. Once the files are merged, the camera will revert to the current Director's view so make sure you save the camera setting of the original scene before merging the files.

To merge two scenes:

  1. Load first scene file.

  2. Choose File > Merge. A dialog appears prompting you to save the current scene.

  3. Choose an option. If you choose to Save the current scene, Bryce will save the scene before doing anything else. The Open dialog will then come up.
  4. Use the dialog controls to locate the file you want to merge and click on Open.

  5. The file you selected is merged with the current scene.

  6. If you need to merge additional scenes, choose File > Merge again.

Holding down the Opt/Alt key while performing this function will merge only the sky from the incoming scene.
