Staircase Type 1 Dimensions This type of staircase consists of one flight of steps per story.
Note: Click the Parametric Definition button to display a drawing illustrating the following parameters.
Number of Stories edit box. Specify the number of stories that the staircase spans.
Story Height, +/- edit box. Specify the height of the stories.
Left Level Width, -X edit box. Specify the width of the staircase on its left level.
Stair Projected Length edit box. Specify the projected length of the staircase.
Right Level Width, +X edit box. Specify the width of the staircase on its right level.
Opening Btw. Stairs edit box. Specify the length of the opening between the flights of the staircase.
Width 1, -Y edit box. Specify the width of the floor level in the minus Y direction.
Stair Width 2, +Y edit box. Specify the width of the staircase in the plus Y direction.
Max Mesh Spacing edit box. Specify the maximum mesh spacing.
Locate Origin button. Click this button to display the Coord System Location and Orientation form. Use the form to specify the location of the origin for the model.
Section Properties
Areas drop-down list. SAP2000 will suggest a section property for the areas in this drop-down list. The section property will apply to all of the areas.
TIP: Click the + (plus) symbol next to the drop-down list to access the Area Sections form; use that form to add, modify or delete an area section definition. The Assign menu > Areas > Area Sections command can be used to change the section property later, if needed.
Restraints check box. When this check box is checked, SAP2000 will assign default restraints to each point at the base of the model.
Gridlines check box. When this check box is checked, the model will display with grid lines when the OK button is clicked. Uncheck this check box to turn off the grid lines. The View menu > Show Grids command also can be used to turn the grid lines on or off after the model has been initiated.

Spiral Staircase Dimensions
Start Angle, T1 edit box. Specify the start angle for the spiral relative to the X axis in a counter-clockwise direction.
End Angle, T2 edit box. Specify the end angle for the spiral relative to the X axis in a counter-clockwise direction.
Num of Divisions, Angular edit box. Specify the number of angular divisions in the spiral.
Num of Divisions, Radial edit box. Specify the number of radial divisions in the spiral.
Inner Radius, Ri edit box. Specify the inner radius of the spiral.
Outer Radius, Ro edit box. Specify the outer radius of the spiral.
Total Height, +/- edit box. Specify the total height of the staircase.

Access the Staircases form as follows:

The template structures available using the Staircases form consist of three types of staircase: Staircase Type 1 (one flight of steps per story), Staircase Type 2 (two flights of steps per story) or Spiral Staircase.
Choose the type of staircase by clicking on it in the Staircase Type drop-down list in the upper left corner of the form. A drawing of the selected staircase type will be shown in the small display box.
