Form:  Set Limits

Use the View menu > Set Limits command when you do not want the entire structure to appear in the display. This option allows you to selectively display portions of the structure by defining limits on the X, Y and Z axes viewing range.

  1. Click the View menu > Set Limits command to access the Set Limits form.

  2. In the Set Limits form use one of the following methods to specify the viewing range:

Method 1

    1. Choose one of the XY, YZ and XZ planes.

    2. In the viewing screen that appears in the top left corner of the form, use the mouse to draw a box around the area you want to view. Note that the limits of the box you define will be reflected in the Max and Min range for the corresponding Axis Limits edit boxes.

    3. Choose another of the XY, YZ and XZ planes and repeat Step 2.

    4. Choose the final XY, YZ and XZ plane and repeat Step 2.

Method 2

    1. Directly enter in the Max and Min Axis Limits for the X, Y and Z axes.

    2. Click the OK button.

Click the Show All button to reset the full view for the corresponding axis.

Check the Ignore Limit Settings check box to quickly remove limit settings without eliminating them. Use this option to quickly switch the display from a limited view to a full view.

Note: The View menu > Show Selection Only command can be used to view only selected members. Use the View menu > Show All command to restore all elements in the model.

Example:  Use of this command is demonstrated in Problem S and Problem U.
