Form:  Rendered Viewer, Multiple Lighting Settings, Texture Mapping Settings

With the active window displaying a Plan or 3D view, click the View menu > Create OpenGL View command to display a rendered view of your model in the Rendered Viewer window.

Note:  If the Viewer appears to be empty, click the Side Views button and select the appropriate Plan View.

This Rendered Viewer window has a number of buttons for manipulating the rendered image.

Save Image Saves the image as a .bmp file.

  • EntireForm. Saves the entire Viewer window, including the title bar and toolbar, using the filename and path that you specify.

  • PlotOnly. Saves only the contents of the Viewer window, excluding the title bar and toolbar, using the filename and path that you specify.

  • UserRegion. Saves the user-specified region. To use this option:

  • Click the Save Image button > User Region option.

  • Specify the filename and path.

  • Drag the mouse over the image in the Viewer window to select the region you want to store.

  • Click the OK button on the pop-up window.

Start Capturing Movie. Begins creating an .AVI file for the display.

Stop Capturing Movie. Stops the process of creating an .AVI file.

Save Captured Movie. Saves the .AVI file to a user specified filename and location.

Reset and Refresh View  Re-displays the image. As you manipulate the image, you may wish to return to the original orientation. Click this button to restore the display. This is also useful if the Viewer appears blank.

Move Camera  Moves the model in the Viewer window while maintaining the perspective and orientation. Click on the display area, hold the mouse button down, and drag the figure as needed.

Pan. Allows panning of the rendered view.

Zoom In/Out Use this command with the left mouse button to Zoom In and the right mouse button to Zoom Out.

Rubber Band Zoom. Allows zooming in on the rendered view by windowing. To use the command, click the Zoom button, then depress and hold down the left mouse button. While keeping the left button depressed, drag the mouse to "rubber band" a window around the portion of the view of interest. A dashed line on the screen shows the extent of the rubber band window. When the mouse left button is released, the new "zoomed" view is displayed.

Restore Previous Zoom Restores the previous view.

Walk Move the mouse to move forward, back, left and right "through" the images as if you were walking within the structure. Click and depress the left mouse button while moving the mouse to walk back, forward, left and right (i.e., horizontal movement with a constant Z object coordinate). Click and depress the right mouse button while moving the mouse to walk up and down (i.e., vertical movement with constant X and Y coordinates). Click and depress the middle mouse button while moving the mouse to rotate the view around the Z-axis of the object.

Side Views  Changes the orientation of the model relative to the x and y coordinate systems.

Light Control  Allows selection of "Lighting" from the top and bottom, or from eight compass directions. With this option the perspective and orientation of the model in the Viewer window remains unchanged. Use the Multiple Lighting option to display the Multiple Lighting Settings form. Use that form to activate or deactivate (check or uncheck the Active check box) a selected light source (choose a light source from the Select Light to Edit drop-down list); choose a direction or positional setting and then specify the x, y, and z directional component or position; and modify the ambient, diffusion, and specular components of the selected light source. The form has a Reset to Defaults button to restore the program settings.

Modify Light Brightness Choose between Bright, Dim, or Dark to decrease or increase shadow effects.

Modify Material Surface. Choose to apply a Dull, Medium, or Shiny surface to the object in the display area, or apply an Advanced Material Setting. When Advanced Material Setting is chosen, the Advanced Material Surface Settings form appears. Use the slides on the form to adjust shininess and various other display components, such as ambience and diffusion.

Modify Dynamic Movement Speed  Modifies the speed at which changes are made in the Viewer window using the other commands.

Change Color Adjusts the background color of the Viewer.

Texture Mapping Surface. Use this button to display the Texture Mapping Settings form that can be used to change the texture applied to the object, the user-defined concrete, the user-defined steel, and the background. The form has buttons that can be used to load new .bmp texture images and options to resize or crop the images.

Blending Mode On/Off. Toggles blending off and on. Blending uses various hues and tones of the display color, which results in a somewhat more dynamic appearance.

Transparency Mode On/Off. Toggles transparency off and on. Transparency adds a depth perspective to the display.

Damped Rotation On/Off. Toggles damped rotation off and on.

Show Floor. Adds a floor to the view.

Show Reflection. Adds a reflection of the structure to the display.

Show Shadow. Adds a shadow of the structure to the display.

Play Animation. Plays a saved .AVI file.

Pause Animation. Pauses the .AVI file.

Stop Animation. Stops the .AVI file.
