The intersecting line selection features draws a line through one or more objects to select them. Use this feature as follows:
Click the Select
menu > Select > Intersecting Line command or the Select
Using Intersecting Line button, 
.
Draw the intersecting line as follows.
Position the mouse pointer to one side of the object(s) to be selected.
Depress and hold down the left button on the mouse.
While keeping the left button depressed, drag the mouse across the object(s) to be selected.
Release the left mouse button.
Note the following about the intersecting line selection method:
As you drag your mouse, a "rubberband line" appears. The rubberband line is a dashed line that changes length and orientation as you drag the mouse. It extends from the point where you first depressed the left mouse button to the current mouse pointer position. Any visible object that is intersected (crossed) by the rubberband line when you release the left mouse button is selected.
When you make a selection
using the intersecting line method, you do not then remain in an intersecting
line mode such that you could immediately make another intersecting line
selection. Instead, you default back to a window selection mode. You must
click the Select menu > Select > Intersecting
Line command or the Select Using Intersecting
Line button, every time you use the selection
method even if you are doing several intersecting line selections in succession.
