The Select menu > Select > Coordinate Specification > 3D Box command is similar to the standard Windows "windowing" feature. However, rather than selecting objects within the rubber band window without regard to their connection to other objects, the Select menu > Select > Coordinate Specification > 3D Box command selects objects using a "3D box." That is, points, frames, cables, /tendons, areas or solids crossed by the cursor after the Select menu > Select > Coordinate Specification > 3D Box command has been used are selected in 3-D, giving full consideration for connections among the objects.
Click the Select menu > Select > Coordinate Specification > 3D Box command to enable the 3D Box Selection mode.
Left click in the active window and drag the mouse over the target area.
Release the mouse button and any objects within the 3D Box will be selected.
The effect of this selection method is most noticeable in a 3-D View.
