Export CIS/2 Step File

Click the Modify/Show Standards button to access the Standards form and verify/specify the standard being applied to the materials and frame sections in the exported CIS/2 Step file.

Standards (Name and Year) display area. The default and previously defined standards are listed in this display area.
Add New Standard button. Click the Add New Standard button to access the Standard Data form. Use the form to define a new standard. Type the appropriate information into the available edit boxes. Use the Type drop-down list to specify if the information is an industry Standard, a Proprietary standard, or a library standard. Click the OK button to close the form and return to the Create CIS/2 Step File form.
Modify/Show Standard button. Highlight an existing standard in the Standards (Name and Year) display area. Click the Modify/Show Standard button to access the Standard Data form. Use the form to modify the selected standard. Type the appropriate revisions in the available edit boxes. Click the OK button to close the form and return to the Create CIS/2 Step File form.
Delete Standard button. Highlight a Standard in the Standards (Name and Year) display area. Click the Delete Standard button. SAP2000 will issue a message asking you to confirm that you want to delete the selected standard.

Note: If an analysis has been run before the File menu > Export > CIS/2 Step File command is used, the model may be locked. If the model is located, the Add New Standard button and the Delete Standard button will not be available.

Click the Modify/Show Material Property Standards button to access the Material Property Standards Assignments form. Use the form to apply previously defined standards to the material properties in the model.

Highlight a property in the Material Property List display area in the upper right portion of the form.
Select a previously defined standard from the Standard drop-down list to apply to the highlighted property. If necessary, click the Modify/Show Standards button to access the Standard Data form and modify the previously defined standard to be more applicable to the selected material property.
As appropriate, enter text in the Reference Number and Description edit boxes to help identify the standard being applied in the CIS/2 Step file.
Click the Apply Standard to Selected Properties button to complete the assignment of the standard to the selected material property.

Click the Modify/Show Frame Section Property button to access the Frame Section Standards Assignments form. Use the form to apply previously defined standards to the frame sections in the model.

Highlight a section in the Frame Section Property List display area.
Select a previously defined standard from the Standard drop-down list to apply to the highlighted frame section. If necessary, click the Modify/Show Standards button to access the Standard Data form and modify the previously defined standard to be more applicable to the selected frame section.
As appropriate, enter text in the Reference Number and Description edit boxes to help identify the standard being applied in the CIS/2 Step file. Use the 'Ref Name' Same as Section Name check box to speed data entry; when the check box is checked, the Ref Name will be the same as the section name as it appears in the Frame Section Property List display area.
Click the Apply Standard to Selected Properties button to complete the assignment of the standard to the selected material property.

Export - CIS/2 Step File

Use the File menu > Export > CIS/2 Step File command to export a file using the CIMSteel Integration Standards (CIS). CIS is a set of formal computing specifications used in the steel industry to make software applications mutually compatible. This file type is often used by steel fabricators outside the United States.

Note: The Select Analysis Cases and Select Response Combinations button are only effective if an analysis was run before the File menu > Export > CIS/2 Step File command was used.
