Form:  Merge Two Polys

Use the Edit menu > Edit Areas > Merge Areas command to access the Merge Two Polys form. Use that form to specify how the assignments for the individual areas will be treated.

  1. Select the areas to be merged. Note that selected areas essentially in the same plane and sharing a common edge or with overlapping area edges will be merged. Areas that lie one on top of the other or that share no common or overlapping edges will not be merged, and an error message will display indicating that no objects to be merged have been selected.

  1. Click the Edit menu > Edit Areas > Merge Areas command to access the Merge Two Polys form.

  2. In the Keep Assignments for Selected Area portion of the form, choose an area that has assignments suitable for the merged area. That is, the assignments of the chosen area will apply to the merged area. For example, assume overlapping areas 1 and 2 have been selected, and area 1 has an area section assignment of ASEC1 and area 2 has an area section assignment of ASEC 2. If 1 (area 1) is selected on the Merge Two Polys form, the merged area will have a section assignment of ASEC1. If 2 (area 2) is selected, the merged area will have a section assignment of ASEC2. Use the Show Area button associated with each area object to access the Area Information form for that object. With that form displayed, click on the Assignments tab to view any assignments made to the object.

Remove Colinear Points Along Merged Area Edges check box. When objects with overlapping edges are merged, the program adds points where the edges intersect. If this check box is unchecked, those additional points remain as part of the object. When the check box is check, the program removes those additional points when the merge is complete.
