Cable Section Data Form

Access the Cable Section Data form as follows:

Click the Define menu > Cable Sections, or click on a line object that has been drawn as a cable and click the Assign menu > Cable > Cable Sections command, to display the Cable Sections form. Then do one of the following:

Click the Add New Section button
Highlight a previously defined cable section definition and click the Add Copy of Section or Modify/Show Section button.

Use the Cable Section Data form to define a cable section.

Cable Section Name edit box. SAP2000 will suggest a default cable section name. Use the default or type a new one in the edit box.
Section Notes Modify/Show button. Click this button to access the Cable Section Notes form. Use that form to add Cable Section notes to the model file.
Material Property drop-down list. Select the Material definition for the cable from the drop-down list.
Cable Properties

Specify Cable Diameter option. Use this option to specify the diameter of the cable. Use the default or enter another value in the current units in the edit box.
Specify Cable Area option. Use this option to specify the area of the cable (length2). Use the default or enter another value in the current units in the edit box.
Torsional Constant, Moment of Inertia, Shear Area display boxes. These parameters are based on the cable diameter or area. They cannot be edited and are provided for informational purposes only.

Modify/Show Cable Property Modifiers button. Click the Modify/Show Cable Property Modifiers button to access the Cable Property Stiffness Modification Factors form. Use the form to modify the stiffness of the cable. Modification factors can also be assigned to individual cable objects. If modifications are included in the property definition and then also assigned to an object, the effects are multiplicative.
Units drop-down list. Use the displayed units or select new units from the drop-down list.
Display Color. The color in this box will be used to display the cable on screen or in printouts, if a color printer is used. Click on the box to display the Colors form. Click on a color and the OK button to change the display color for the cable.
