Linear Multi-Step Static Form

Access the Analysis Case Data - Linear Multi-Step Static form as follows:

Click the Define menu > Analysis Cases command to display the Analysis Cases form.
Click the Add New Case button or highlight a previously defined analysis case and click the Add Copy of Case or the Modify/Show Case button to display the Analysis Case Data form.
Select Multi-Step Static from the Analysis Case Type drop-down list .

When the Analysis Case Type is Multi-Step Static provide input in the following areas:

Stiffness to Use.

Load Applied. Apply the loads from one or more load cases or built-in acceleration loads. Usually multi-step load cases, such as moving-load or wave-load cases, should be chosen, although standard non-stepped load cases also may be applied.

Important: All loads specified will be added and applied in combination. A separate analysis output step will be created for each step of the specified multi-stepped load cases. If more than one multi-stepped load case is included, the first output step will combine the loads of the first step of each of the load cases, the second output step will combine the loads of the second step of each of the load cases, and so on. Non-stepped load cases will be combined at every output step. The total number of output steps will be equal to the largest number of steps in the specified load cases.

Load Type. Choose whether the load to be applied is a load case or a built-in acceleration load. See Applying Acceleration Loads for more information.
Load Name. Choose the load case name, or the global direction of ground acceleration, depending on the type of load.
Scale Factor. Enter a scale factor that multiplies the load before adding it to other loads applied. For acceleration loads, the scale factor has units of acceleration, and should be consistent with the length units currently in use. For load cases, the scale factor is unitless.

Add button. After the Load Type, Load Name and Scale Factor have been specified, click the Add button to add the load.
Modify button.

Highlight a load in the set of applied loads.
Make any changes to the load type, load name, and scale factor at the top of the table.
Click the Modify button.

Delete button.

Highlight the load to be deleted in the set of applied loads.
Click the Delete button.
