Tendon Horizontal Layout Data Form

Access the Tendon Horizontal Layout Data form, with the Bridge Modeler license enabled, as follows:

Click the Bridge menu > Bridge Objects command, or select the Bridge Object Definition item and click the Define/Show Bridge Objects button on the Bridge Wizard, to display the Define Bridge Objects form. At least a layout line and a bridge deck section must be defined for this command to be available.
Click the Add New Bridge Object button or highlight a previously defined bridge object in the Bridge Objects area of the form and click the Add Copy of Bridge Object or Modify/Show Bridge Object button to display the Bridge Object Data form.
Click the Modify/Show Bridge Prestress button to display the Define Prestress Tendon form.
Click the Add New Tendon button, or highlight a previously defined tendon in the Tendon display area and click the Add Copy of Tendon or Modify/Show Tendon button, to display the Bridge Tendon Data form.
With the Bridge Tendon Data form displayed, click the Edit Horiz. Layout button to display the Tendon Horizontal Layout Data form.

Use the Tendon Horizontal Layout Data form to specify the segment, the tendon length and the horizontal offset from the Reference Line.

Point ID. The Point ID identifies a point along the tendon. The number of points used to define the layout of the tendon determines the complexity of the layout. A minimum of two points is required to define the tendon layout. Additional points located at varied offsets from the reference line allow definition of parabolic curves in the tendon, for example.
Tendon Layout Data spreadsheet. The necessary data can be specified in this area using the following alternative approaches:

Quick Start button. Click this button to display the Tendon Quick Start form. Select a template layout on that form to define the horizontal layout for the tendon. When the OK button on that form is clicked, the selected template layout will be transferred automatically to the Tendon Layout Data area of the Tendon Horizontal Layout Data form where the layout can be refined using the other options described in this topic.
Make selections and enter values directly into the spreadsheet area:

Segment Type. Select a segment type from the drop-down list.

Linear option. A segment that extends in a straight line to the end point specified in the Tendon Dist. edit box, and that begins at the Start of Tendon or the previous segment's end point.
Parabola Intermediate Point option. A parabolic segment that is defined by the intermediate point specified in the Tendon Dist. edit box.
Parabola End Point option. A parabolic segment that is defined by the end point specified in the Tendon Dist. edit box.
Parabola End Point and Initial Slope option. A parabolic segment that is defined by the end point specified in the Tendon Dist. edit box and the initial slope specified in the Slope edit box.
Parabola End Point and Final Slope option. A parabolic segment that is defined by the end point specified in the Tendon Dist. edit box and the final slope specified in the Slope edit box.

With respect to defining segment types, clicking the Calculator button will display the Define Parabolic Tendon {Vertical, Horizontal} Layout by Points form, which can be used to easily specify parabolic alignment(s) for the tendon. When the OK button on the Define Parabolic Tendon {Vertical, Horizontal} Layout by Points form is clicked, the data in the spreadsheet is transferred automatically to the Tendon Layout Data spreadsheet on the Tendon Horizontal Layout Data form. SAP2000 converts the numeric data to appropriate Segment Type and Point Type designations and further entries in the Tendon Layout Data area are not needed.

Tendon Dist. edit box. Use this edit box to specify in the current units the length of the tendon segment as projected into the plane of the deck. As segments are added, the distances must get larger or SAP2000 will issue a warning message that the distance is not acceptable and the entry will not be allowed as specified.
Horiz. Offset edit box. Use this edit box to specify in the current units the offset of the tendon segment from the reference line (i.e., the distance from the reference line to the tendon).
Slope edit box. Use this edit box to specify the slope ratio of the tendon for the segment being specified.
Insert Above button. After making a selection in the Segment Type drop-down list and making appropriate corresponding entries in the Tendon Dist., Horiz. Offset and Slope edit boxes, click this button to insert the row of data above the currently selected row. Note that no entries can be inserted above the first entry, Start of Tendon.
Insert Below button. After making a selection in the Segment Type drop-down list and making appropriate corresponding entries in the Tendon Dist., Horiz. Offset and Slope edit boxes, click this button to insert the row of data below the currently selected row. Note that no entries can be inserted below the last entry, Linear End of Tendon.
Modify button. After changing the selection in the Segment Type drop-down list or changing the values in the Tendon Dist., Horiz. Offset and Slope edit boxes, click this button to modify the entries in the spreadsheet.
Delete button. Highlight a row of data in the spreadsheet and click this button to delete the selected row.
Delete All button. Click this button to delete all data in the spreadsheet, except the default start and end tendon entries.

Right click on a row of data in the Tendon Layout Data spreadsheet to display the Modify Tendon Horizontal Layout {Segment Number} form. The form has options to modify the Segment Parameters (i.e., Segment Type, Tendon Distance, Horizontal Offset, and Slope), divide the selected segment into a user-specified number of segments, or delete a segment.

Note: These three alternative input approaches can be used together to achieve the desired alignment. For example, use the Quick Start button to initiate the layout using one of the templates. Then right click on a row of data to make program-assisted adjustments using the Modify Tendon Horizontal Layout {Segment Number} form. If further refinement is required, use the Insert, Modify, and Delete buttons to make the final adjustments, if necessary.
