Define Parabolic Tendon {Vertical or Horizontal} Layout by Points Form

Access the Define Parabolic Tendon {Vertical or Horizontal} Layout by Points form, with the Bridge Modeler license enabled, as follows:

Click the Bridge menu > Bridge Objects command, or on the Bridge Wizard select the Bridge Object Definition item and click the Define/Show Bridge Objects button, to display the Define Bridge Objects form. At least a layout line and a bridge deck section must be defined for this command to be available.
Click the Add New Bridge Object button or highlight a previously defined bridge object in the Bridge Objects area of the form and click the Add Copy of Bridge Object or Modify/Show Bridge Object button to display the Bridge Object Data form.
Click the Modify/Show Bridge Prestress button to display the Define Prestress Tendon form.
Click the Add New Tendon button, or highlight a previously defined tendon in the Tendon display area and click the Add Copy of Tendon or Modify/Show Tendon button to display the Bridge Tendon Data form.
Click the Quick Start button (near the Edit Vertical Layout button or the Edit Horizontal Layout button) to display the Tendon Quick Start form.
Choose one of the Parabolic Tendon options and click the OK button to display the Define Parabolic Tendon {Vertical or Horizontal} Layout by Points form.

Note that clicking the Quick Start button on the Tendon Horizontal Layout Data or Tendon Vertical Layout Data form will also display the Tendon Quick Start form (Step 6). As described in Step 7, choose a Parabolic Tendon option and click the OK button to display the Define Parabolic Tendon {Vertical or Horizontal} Layout by Points form.

Use the Define Parabolic Tendon {Vertical or Horizontal} Layout by Points form to specify the vertical or horizontal layout of the tendon by specifying the number of points needed to define the tendon layout, the location of those points, the offset type, the vertical or horizontal offset distance, and the slope type and ratio.

Tendon Name display box. The name assigned to this tendon definition using the Define Prestress Tendon form is shown in this display box.
Number of Points edit box. In this edit box, SAP2000 will automatically load the minimum number of points needed for the template tendon layout specified using the Tendon Quick Start form. Use that minimum or enter the number of points to be used to define the tendon alignment. After data has been entered in the Tendon Layout Data area, SAP2000 will issue a warning message if an incorrect number of points has been specified in this edit box. If such a message is displayed, increase or decrease the value appropriately.
Tendon Layout Data spreadsheet. Use the cells in this spreadsheet to define the tendon layout by specifying the point locations relative to the left end of the bridge, offset of the control points relative to the reference line and the slope type and ratio, if any.

Point column. Each point to be defined is listed sequentially in this column. The number of points listed is specified in the Number of Points edit box.
Tendon Dist. column. Enter values for the distance of the point from the left edge of the bridge. Point distances must be listed in ascending order. If they are not, SAP2000 will issue a warning indicating that the problem must be corrected.
Offset Type and Vert./Horiz. Offset columns. If Specified is selected in Offset Type column, enter a numeric value in the Vert./Horiz. Offset column to specify in the current units the offset from the reference line. If Prog Calc is selected, SAP2000 will calculate the offset based on the number of control points specified and the location of those points relative to one another. The program will issue a warning if an insufficient number of points has been specified.
Slope Type and Slope columns. If Specified is selected for the Slope Type, enter numeric values in the Slope column to specify the slope ratio. If Prog Calc is selected, SAP2000 will calculate the slope for the alignment. The program will issue a warning if an insufficient number of points has been specified.

Display area. After data has been entered in the Tendon Layout Data spreadsheet, click the Refresh Calculated Results button to display a view of the tendon layout in this area of the form.

Units drop-down list. Use the displayed units or select new units from the drop-down list.
Tend Dist edit/display box. To move the mouse pointer to a specific location on the view, enter a value for the distance from the left edge of the bridge in this edit box. Alternatively, as the mouse pointer is moved over the view, the distance from the left edge of the bridge is shown in this display box.
Offset display box. The offset (distance from the reference line to the point) is shown in this display box as the mouse pointer is moved over the view.
Slope display box. The slope of the layout relative to the reference line is shown in this display box as the mouse pointer is moved over the view.
S display box (vertical layout). As the mouse pointer is moved over the view, the S coordinate of the mouse pointer location will display in this display box.
Z display box (vertical layout). As the mouse pointer is moved over the view, the Z coordinate of the mouse pointer location will display in this display box.
X display box (horizontal layout). As the mouse pointer is moved over the view, the X coordinate of the mouse pointer location will display in this display box.
Y display box (horizontal layout). As the mouse pointer is moved over the view, the Y coordinate of the mouse pointer location will display in this display box.
No Snap option. When this option is selected, no snap feature is enable. Thus, the mouse pointer moves freely over any area of the view in the Display area. As the mouse pointer is moved, the appropriate data displays in the boxes described above.
Snap to Ref Line option. When this option is selected, as the mouse pointer moves over the view, SAP2000 snaps the pointer/small red dot to the Reference Line and displays the appropriate data in the boxes described above.
Snap to Tendon option. When this option is selected, as the mouse pointer moves over the view, SAP2000 snaps the pointer/small red dot to the tendon and displays the appropriate data in the boxes described above.
Snap to Points option. When this option is selected, as the mouse pointer moves over the view, SAP2000 snaps the pointer/small red dot to the points used to define the parabolic alignment and displays the appropriate data in the boxes described above. Note also that the row of data corresponding to the selected point is highlighted in the Tendon Layout Data spreadsheet area of the form.
Horizontal Scroll Bar. Use the scroll bar to drag the mouse pointer/red dot across the view or along the reference line or tendon in the Display area. If the Snap to Ref Line option is selected, the red dot moves along the reference line and the appropriate location data displays in the above described display boxes. If the Snap to Tendon option is selected, the red dot moves along the tendon alignment and the appropriate location data displays in the above described display boxes. Similarly, if the Snap to Points option is selected, the red dot displays only at the points used to define the parabolic alignment and the appropriate data displays in the edit boxes described above.

Use Calculated Results for This Tendon check box. When this check box is checked and the Done button is clicked, the changes made on this form (i.e., the Define Parabolic Tendon {Vertical or Horizontal} Layout by Points form) are transferred to the Tendon Horizontal Layout Data or Tendon Vertical Layout Data form. If the check box is not checked, any changes made are ignored.
Clear Calculated Results button. Click this button to delete all values entered/displayed in the Tendon Layout Data spreadsheet.
Refresh Calculated Results button. After making changes in the Tendon Layout Data spreadsheet, click this button to update the data and the view in the Display area.
