Access the Bridge Layout Line Data form, with the Bridge Model license enabled, as follows:
The Bridge Layout Line Data form also displays when the OK button is clicked on the Bridge Layout Line From General Reference Line form. |
Use the Bridge Layout Line Data form to define layout lines for the bridge model. The layout lines specify orientation of the bridge relative to the coordinate system. The placement of bridge objects (e.g., abutments, columns, bents, hinges, spans) is accomplished relative to the layout line.
Bridge Layout Line Name edit box. Use the default or specify another name for the layout line definition in this edit box.
Coordinate System drop-down list. Use the drop-down list to select a coordinate system other than global if one has been defined (see Define Coordinate Systems/Grids for more information about defining a coordinate system). The layout line will be defined relative to the selected coordinate system.
Units drop-down. Use the displayed units or use this drop-down list to change the units for the form.
Coordinates of Initial Station and Global X, Global Y, Global Z edit boxes. If necessary, use these edit boxes to specify Global X, Y and Z coordinates other than the origin (i.e., other than 0, 0, 0).
Initial and End Station Data. Use the edit boxes in this area of the form to define the location of the bridge:
Initial Station edit box. Use the default or specify another location for the first station/beginning of the bridge. This distance is in the units specified in the Units drop-down list.
Initial Bearing edit box. Use this edit box to specify the bearing for the bridge.
Initial Grade in Percent edit box. Use the default or specify the percentage of grade for the bridge. If a grade more than 10 (i.e., 10%) is specified, SAP will caution the user to verify that a grade of that magnitude is correct.
End Station edit box. Use the default or specify the last station/end of the bridge. This distance is from the initial station/beginning of the bridge in the units specified in the Units drop-down list.

Vertical Layout Data button. Click these button to display the
Bridge
Layout Line - Horizontal Layout Line Data form and or the Bridge

on those forms to specify the horizontal and vertical alignment for the
layout line.
Alternatively, use the Quick Start button
to display the Horizontal Layout Line Data - Quick
Start form or the Vertical Layout Line Data
- Quick Start form; select an option on the form by clicking on
it and then click the OK button to redisplay
the Bridge Layout Line Data form with the
selected quick start option automatically transferred to the data form.
If additional modifications are needed, click the Define
Horizontal Layout Data button or the Define
Vertical Layout Data button to redisplay the Bridge
Layout Line - Horizontal Layout Data form or the Bridge
Layout Line - Vertical Layout Data form.
Plan View display area and Developed Elevation View Along Layout Line display area. These display areas show the specified bridge layout in plan view and elevation view respectively. Move the mouse pointer along the layout line in either display area and note that the data in the Station, Bearing, Radius, Grade, X, Y and Z edit or display boxes identifies the location of the mouse pointer along the layout line. With the exception of the Station edit box, the data is not editable. Enter a value in the Station edit box to specify a particular point along the layout line.
Refresh Plot button. By default, SAP will update the plots shown in the Plan View and Developed Elevation View Along Layout Line display areas when changes are made using this form. If for some reason the plot does not automatically update, click this button to refesh the plots.
