Access the Bridge Bent Data form, with the Bridge Modeler enabled, as follows:
After the bent has been defined, assign it to the bridge model using Bridge Objects. |
Use the Bridge Bent Data form to define the bridge bents for your model.
Bridge Bent Name edit box. Use the default or specify a new name.
Bent Data
Cap Beam Length edit box. Use the default or specify the length of the cap beam.
Number of Columns edit box. Specify the number of columns for the bent.
Cap Beam Section drop-down list. Select the section property definition for the cap beam section from the drop-down list.
Reference Point Location
Distance From Left End of Cap Beam edit box. Specify the location of the Reference Point relative to the left end of the cap beam. The Reference Point is located vertically at the top of the cap beam. The Reference Point locates the bent relative to the Reference Line of the bridge.
Vertical Diaphragm
Include Vertical Diaphragm check box. When this check box is checked, SAP2000 will close the ends of the bridge. Use the Diaphragm Property drop-down list to select a previously defined diaphragm property for the vertical diaphragm. This closure is applicable only to area object and solid object models. It does not apply to spine models.
Units drop-down list. Use the displayed units or select new units from the drop-down list.
Column Data
Modify/Show Column Data button. Click this button to display the Bridge Bent Column Data form and define column data and the moment releases at the top of the column.
Bent Connects To options. Specify connection between the bent and the Girder Top, Girder Bottom, or both the Girder Top and Bottom.
Bent To Girder Connection Properties Defined By options. Specify how the connection from the bent to the girder is to be defined.
Link/Support Property option. Use this option to define the connection using a link/support property definition.
User Definition option. When this option is chosen, SAP2000 will define the connection using the entries in the User Bent Support spreadsheet area of the form:
User Bent Support spreadsheet area. Use the cells in this area of the form to specify translational and rotational releases as free, fixed, or with partial fixity. Click in a cell in the Release Type column and select the appropriate type from the drop-down list. If partial fixity is selected, also specify a stiffness value in the cells in the Stiffness column.
