Basic Properties

Name

Here you can enter a name for the object.

Layer

If a layer was assigned a color it will be displayed here. This field reflects the layer color in the Layer Palette. You can drag & drop layers from the Layer Browser or similar layer fields onto this field. You can also assign layers or remove tracks from current layers using the menus located behind the small triangle.

Enable Animation

Use this setting to turn animation tracks off, i.e. the track will not be animated in spite of an existing animation. This state will automatically be inherited by the children (children’s states can nevertheless be switched independently of the parent objects). The same functionality can be found in the layer column in the form of an “eye” icon that can be turned on or off.

Solo Animation

Activate this setting if you want to switch the track to Solo Animation mode, i.e. only that track will be animated and all others will be turned off. This state will be inherited by all children but can be changed on an individual basis. The same functionality can be found in the layer column in the form of a filmstrip that can be turned on or off.

Play Sound and Stop Sound let you preview the loaded sound file. The Use Sound setting lets you turn the loaded sound file on and off, and the Start Time setting lets you define at which time in the animation the loaded sound file should start playing.

CINEMA 4D uses the default audio application of the system on which it is installed (e.g. Windows Media Player for Windows systems or QuickTime for Macintosh systems).

Currently, CINEMA 4D supports uncompressed ..WAV and .AIF formats with 11.22 and 44 kHz as well as 8-bit, 16-bit, mono and stereo sound. File labels will be recognized. Unfortunately many available audio applications (shareware editors, QuickTime, etc.) do not always conform to .WAV file format guidelines, causing their files to be flawed. Therefore, if CINEMA 4D has problems loading a sound file try converting the sound file with an alternate application. Although other applications may load the same flawed audio files, CINEMA 4D’s rigid control (ensureS higher quality) of audio files prevents flawed files from being loaded. If an audio file is flawed you may experience program crashes or unwanted behavior.
