Record

Position
Scale
Rotation

Activate the corresponding mode that you want to animate, change the parameter and press the Record (or via Autokeying). These settings are available for every object in the Coord. Tab, where keys can be set as well.

Point Level Animation

This mode is only for use with polygonal objects. The position of all object points will be recorded. See also here.

Parameter

This mode is designed to work in conjunction with the Autokeying mode. a key will be recorded for each item whose properties are displayed in the Attributes Manager each time a change is made to one of these properties. Specific keys can be selected to limit recording (see also here)

Default Interpolation

When keys are created, a soft interpolation between the keys will be applied (interpolation: Spline and Auto Tangent, see Key Properties). In most cases this will result in a smooth and soft animation because no kinks will be created in the F-Curves.

This does, though, bear a disadvantage: Overshooting (the animation value shoots beyond the key value) can occur. The following Manual Interpolation can help remedy this.

Custom Interpolation

Activate this setting if you want to apply a different type of interpolation than the default when creating keys and adjust the settings using the following option, Custom Preferences.

Custom Preferences...

Use Custom Preferences to manually define the key interpolation. These settings can later be found in the keys’ properties.

All pertinent key interpolation properties can be defined here. See also here.

Make sure the Manual Interpolation option is active, the only exception being:

Overdub

If a key should already exist at the present time the existing key’s interpolation type will be retained for the newly created key (only the Key value will be overwritten).

Link XYZ Subchannels

If this option is deactivated, only the vector keys (position, size, rotation, color) that have actually changed will be recorded, i.e. if an object only moves in the Z-direction a key for only the Z-direction will be recorded.

Activating this option will record a key for all three vectors, regardless of whether or not an object changes with regard to a given vector.
