Variable Radius

While you are still in Constant Value mode (the default), choose the radius you want as the Global Value - even if you are applying variable radii, the Global Value will still be used as the basic radius.

Now toggle Constant Values to Variable Values. At the ends of each edge, a radius value dialog will appear, reflecting the Global Value specified above. Toggle Spline Transition to Linear Transition as required.

To change the radius at any point, simply click the field and enter a new value. To delete a value, click on the x to close the field.

If you want to specify radii at additional locations, you have two options: By Pick and By Intervals.

By Pick

Select additional points at which to add a radius value.

By default you can pick midpoints, but you can use Point Selection options to select other types of points, such as Intersect and Close.

The radius value dialog will appear at the selected point, with a default value equal to the Global Value. Change the value to the desired radius.

Press OK or Apply in the Feature Guide to complete the function. The resulting rounded faces are shown in cyan.

By Intervals

Divide one or more edges into a number of intervals, the ends of which can be assigned specific radius values.

Toggle By Pick to By Intervals, and enter the desired number of points. (Note: if Number of Points = 4, you are dividing the edge into 3 intervals.)

Now select the edge or edges you want to divide.

A radius value dialog will appear at each interval, with a default value equal to the Global Value.

Change the values to the desired radii.

Press OK or Apply in the Feature Guide to complete the function. The resulting rounded faces are shown in cyan.

Click the Options field if you want to specify further information about the rounding, such as creation of solids or faces.

Picking a Chain of Non-Smooth Edges

It is possible to pick a chain of non-smooth edges as in the example below:

Note: The non-smooth edges of the chain must be continuous.
