Remove material by revolving a closed sketch / composite curve by a given angle.
Important: When using this function, material will be removed only from the current active object. (If only one object exists in the document it is automatically active unless manually deactivated.) See Activate / Deactivate and Activating Objects.
Required Step 1 ![]()
Select a closed 2D composite curve or sketch.
Notes:
If you enter Revolve immediately after creating a closed 2D composite curve or sketch, the entity is automatically included in Step 1.
If you select a sketch that contains more than one closed curve sequence, all closed curve sequences will be extruded. In order for a sketch to be selected, however, it must contain only closed curve sequences.

Required Step 2 ![]()
Select the axis of revolution. This axis can be an edge, datum axis, or line.

Required Step 3 ![]()
Theta
Set the revolution parameters. Choose One Side if you want to extrude on one side of the contour, and press the Theta = field to enter the angle. You can flip the direction by clicking the arrow.

If you toggle One Side to Both Sides, you must specify the Opposite Theta - in the opposite direction from the arrow.

Theta Mid Plane
If you want to revolve the contour by the same value in both directions, choose Theta Mid Plane. The value you specify is the total angle of revolution.
