General Interaction

Pick a curve, a non-planar face and define the direction of the cross section, and the system creates a face that is tangent to the picked face and goes through the curve.

 

Required Step 1

  1. Pick the curve through which the new face will pass.

Note: If the curve has sharp corner (a composite curve with sharp corners for example), the result will be multiple surfaces, one for each smooth string of curves (as in the example below).

Required Step 2

  1. Pick the face to which the new face will be tangent.

Note: Only non-planar faces can be used.

Required Step 3

  1. Define the cross section direction of the new face.

Note: Changing the angle of the direction causes a change in the resulting face.

 

When finished, press OK or Apply in the Feature Guide to complete the function.

When completed, the new tangent face will appear in the Feature Tree as follows:
