There are several ways you can start working on a Cimatron E document.
Creating a new document (File / New)
To open a new document, use one of the following methods:
Press the New Document
icon in the
toolbar
Select File / New from the main menu
or
Press Ctrl + N.
The New Document dialog is displayed (Make sure the Default tab is selected):

Select the type of document that you wish to create: Part, Assembly, Drawing or NC.
Select the units of measurement for the document. The default units are defined in the Preferences, however, you can specify the units of a new document.
Press OK.
The document is created with a default name and enables you to start working immediately.
When you Save the document for the first time, the Cimatron E Explorer is displayed enabling you to define the document name and to save it in the appropriate folder. Initially, the Save As option cannot be selected; you must first Save a document before you can Save As something else.
Note: When you Save a document for the first time, its default Properties are generated and saved. These can be viewed when the Cimatron E Explorer is displayed after saving the document. Browse to the saved document and view the Properties.
Opening an existing document (File / Open)
To open a new document, use one of the following methods:
press the
Open Documents
icon from
the toolbar
select File / Open from the main menu
or press Ctrl + O.
The Cimatron E Explorer is displayed.

Browse to the appropriate folder.
To open the file, either:
double-click it
right-click it and select Open.
single-click it and press Load.
Multiple files can also be loaded. In the Cimatron E Explorer, select the files using the <Ctrl> or <Shift> key and then press Load.
