Define a stock by manually selecting surfaces. The resulting stock will be the outer limits of the selected entities.
The following dialog is used for stock creation from surfaces:

There are several ways to select surfaces:
Manually: Pick surfaces one by one. How?
By box: To pick a group of surfaces, drag a box with the mouse that includes the desired surfaces. The box does not have to entirely include the surfaces; any surface partially enclosed by the box will be chosen.
By criteria: To pick a group of surfaces based on colors, sets, etc, right-click and select By Criteria from the popup menu. The Criteria dialog opens, and you can create a criteria group.
Transparency: Move the slider to adjust the transparency of the stock display.
Auto Preview: this box must be checked in order to see the part on the graphic display. If this box is not checked, the three display icons (color, shade and show) will be disabled.
Ref. Stock Size: Based on the entities you have selected, this area shows the size of the stock. The values are for reference only and cannot be changed in this dialog. The Z distance is the difference between the Max. Z and Min. Z values ( in the Selected Geometry section of this dialog ).
Selected Geometry:
|
Max Z |
The maximum Z of the stock. This is a system defined parameter and is based on the highest point of the part. |
|
Min Z |
The minimum Z of the stock. By default, this is based on the lowest point of the part. This minimum Z can be shortened or extended. If this distance is changed, the Z value of the Ref. Stock Size ( in this dialog ) is automatically updated. Notes:
|
|
Recalculate |
Revert to the default Max. and Min. Z levels. If the Min. Z has been changed, this option recalculates the default Min. Z. |
Offset: Enter the surface offset if required.
Number of picked surfaces: This section displays the number of surfaces picked manually, picked by criteria and also the total number of surfaces picked.
