Gouge Check

If this box is checked, a check will be performed to prevent gouging the part or the check surfaces. The algorithm projects the gouge motions onto the surface in the Z direction to avoid gouging.

Gouging is prevented in two cases:

  1. On a single surface, when the diameter of the tool is larger than the curvature of the part to be milled, thus damaging the part.

  2. On multi-surfaces, when the tool tries to finish milling one surface and damages another surface.

The gouge checking algorithm is based on surface approximation by triangular planes.
