Limit Machining by Tool Holder

This parameter enables you to define whether or not to limit the machining by the tool holder. In addition, if not, for Finish, CleanUp and Pencil, you can calculate the Minimum Clear Length.

The following options are available:

Yes

Take the Holder into account when calculating the procedure. If the Holder is considered, this enables the system to avoid holder collisions.

No. Ignore Holder

Do not take the Holder into account when calculating the procedure. Ignore the holder altogether.

You may wish to ignore the holder for the following reasons:

  • If you know that the holder does not gouge and you want to reduce the execution time.

  • If you want to reduce execution time and only add the holder check at the last run.

  • If the tool setup is changed but you know that it will not affect the procedure.

  • If you want to update the Clear Length according to the displayed system message, but you do not want to suspend the procedure.

  • If the holder is removed/added but you do not want to suspend the procedure.

No. Calc. Minimum

Do not take the Holder into account when calculating the procedure. However, do calculate the Minimum Clear Length that can be used to complete the machining of an executed procedure, without leaving unmachined regions due to holder collisions.

The Minimum Clear Length value is calculated and displayed in the Output pane and the NC Process Manager (in the Limit by Holder column) after calculating the procedure.
