Z Shift

Enable a Part and /or Check Surface offset in the Z direction only. This allows you to leave different amounts of materials on walls and on the bottom (e.g. Finish machining of the bottom and semi-finish on the walls). It also improves the behavior of check surfaces by preventing horizontal Check Surfaces from shadowing the walls below them and by preventing bumps on top Part Surfaces resulting from vertical Check Surfaces.

Check Z Shift to display the following parameters:

Part Shift

The Part Surface offset in the Z direction.

Check Shift

The Check Surface offset in the Z direction.

This parameter is set in the Tolerance & Surface Offset section of the Procedure Parameter Table.

Example:

Using the regular Check Surfaces offset, causes the faces to be offset in all directions.

Setting the Check Shift offset to 1mm results in an offset in the Z Direction only (from the Check surfaces). This enables complete machining of the relevant faces.
