CAD/CAM systems are in use today in increasing numbers for applications covering all phases of products design, analysis, manufacturing and testing. As users in each of these stages may use systems supplied by different vendors, there is a need for data to be exchanged digitally between these systems.
Cimatron E performs accurate and rapid data translations, supporting industry standard formats such as IGES, DXF, SAT, SolidWorks, Parasolid, STL, VDA, STEP and VRML as well as dedicated interfaces such as Cimatron PFM, Cimatron Quick Applications, Pro/E, CATIA, DWG and Unigraphics.
Intelligent translation, error-checking and problem resolution algorithms, optimize translation integrity and richness. These techniques improve translation speed and accuracy while giving you optimal control over the various formats.
Enter the Data Interface conversion dialogs by using the Import
or Export
icons in the main toolbar or by selecting the Import
or Export options under
File in the main menu.
A important feature in Cimatron's Data Interface operations, is the ability to create customized parameter sets, where import or export settings are based on specific parameter values (a sort of DI template). This saves time by allowing you to predefine and save parameter values for certain import or export operations, and then enabling you to "recall" these parameter values by selecting the appropriate setting.

Notes:
Files exported from Cimatron E do not include NC data. To transfer NC information to the PFM (Cimatron It) format, use NC templates. These are external files that can be recognized by Cimatron E and Cimatron It.
Files imported from the PFM (Cimatron It) format do include NC data.
