Surface Paths

This tab enables you to set the pattern options, cut area options, cut sorting options and surface quality options. Here you also select your drive surfaces. These are surfaces to be machined. The surface normal of drive surfaces is very important for these procedures. The toolpath is always on the upper side of the surface. Use the Analyze / Object Direction tool to check and set the appropriate milling side prior to using these procedures.

Tool axis control

This tab allows you to define the tool orientation relative to the surface normal and you can set machining limit angles.

Gouge check

This tab contains all options to avoid the tool gouging selected drive and check surfaces.

Link

Surfaces defining the work piece can have gaps and holes. In such cases you can define the desired behavior of the 5-axis machine. For example small gaps can be ignored and milled without retracting the tool and big gaps are detected and the tool will retract back to the rapid plane and skip the gap. Such options are set within this dialog.

Roughing

This tab enables you to define the stock as well as the multi passes option. All tool moves in the air that do not remove material will be trimmed using this given stock definition.

Utility

This tab contains special functions for custom applications.

Machine definition

Definition of Machine Tool kinematics can be provided here. Some options in the 5axmsurf C-Hook can utilize the machine tool kinematics information such as spindle main direction. This tab is intended for future development.
