Adding a New Material in the Material Definition Table
Additional materials can be inserted as needed in the table. To do this:
1. Display the Material Definition table.
2. Highlight the position where you want to insert the new material. (Note that the new material will be inserted directly below the material you highlighted.)
3. Select the Insert button on the menu or press the insert keyboard key. The New Material menu opens:

The material formula uses information from the floor plans to create an estimate of needed material. The materials on floor plan drawings are separated into twenty-eight major groups.
All of the materials that are to be calculated have their calculations based on one of these major groups. Before you can calculate the material formula for a material you must first choose from the New Material menu which group the material you wish to estimate is based on. For example, window trim is based on the group Opening, wall studs are based on the group Wall, and concrete walls are based on the group Wall.
4. From the New Material menu, select the group you wish to base the material's formula calculation on and then select the ok button. The Material Setup menu for the material is displayed. See Illustration 2.

· Once you have chosen the group to put the new material into, other defining options may appear in the Material Setup menu depending on the group chosen. These options allow you to further define the material. SoftList will then use this information to calculate the cost and quantity needed for the material.
To learn how to define these options, see Defining a Material in the Material Setup Menu.
· Materials that have their calculations based on the group called Per Floor are materials that are placed only once on each floor. An example of this would be smoke alarms, of which you would require only one per floor.
5. In the Material Name field, enter a name for the new material.
6. Define the new material by completing the remaining sections of the Material Setup menu. Use the information in the sections, Specifying Information in the Material Setup Menu and Defining a Material in the Material Setup Menu to help you do this.
7. Select the ok button when you have finished defining the material. A new material is inserted in the Material Definition table.
