Insert > Solid > Sweep

Sweep creates a base, boss, cut, or surface by moving a profile (section) along a path.

How to use Sweep command

1.

Click  button on the toolbar, or click Insert > Solid > Sweep.

2.

Select Profile and Path.

3.

Select the Method to Keep Normal Constant.

4.

Click OK.

Options in Detail

·   Profiles – Sets the sketch profile (section) used to create the sweep. Select the profile sketch in the graphics area or in the tree view. The profile must be closed for a base or boss sweep feature. The profile may be open or closed for a surface sweep feature.

·   Paths - Sets the path along which the profile sweeps. Select the path sketch in the graphics area or in the tree view. The path can be open or closed, and can be a set of sketched curves contained in one sketch, a curve, or a set of model edges. The start point of the path must lie on the plane of the profile.

·   Method – You can select a method to sweep.

a) Follow Path: Section remains at same angle with respect to path at all
         times.

b) Keep Normal Constant: Section remains parallel to the beginning
         section at all times.

c) Follow Path and First Guide Curve: You can select a guide curve to control the intermediate shape of profile. Click  button and select a guide curve.

d) Follow First and Second Guide Curve: You can select two guide curves to control the intermediate shape of profile. Click  button and select guide curves.

e) Twist Along Path: Twists the section along the path. Define the twist
          by degrees.

f) Twist Along Path With Normal Constant: Twists the section along the
path, keeping the section parallel to the beginning section as it twists
         along the path.

Path Alignment Type – This option is available when Follow Path is selected. Stabilizes the profile when small and uneven curvature fluctuations along the path cause the profile to misalign. Following are the available options for the Path Alignment Type.
       a)
None: Aligns the profile normal to the path. No correction is applied.

       c) Direction Vector: Aligns the profile in the direction selected for Direction
Vector. Select entities to set the direction vector.

·   Guide Curves - Guides the profile as it sweeps along the path. Select guide curves in the graphics area.

·   Tangent Propagation – If this option is enabled, tangent propagation is used. When you select edge of body for path, this option is available.

·   Merge Tangent Faces – If you check this option, tangentially connected faces are merged.

·   Result Operator: This option is available when there exists one more bodies.
       a) Cut: When the two solids make an intersection, the resultant solid is cut
to keep only the intersected part.
       b) Merge:
The resultant solid is merged with the first body.
