Cache Time Range
Specifies which frames are cached. It is easiest to cache the entire frame range of the Time Line. However, you can create smaller cache files to conserve disk space by caching only the frames where fluids are solved.
Render Settings
Caches the frame range specified in the Image File Output section of the Render Settings window. (Select Window > Rendering Editors > Render Settings.)
Time Slider
Caches all frames of the Playback Start/End range.
Start/End
Caches a frame range you specify in the Start Time and End Time boxes.
Start/End boxes
Specifies the Start Time and End Time values for use with the Start/End Cache Time Range option.
Cache
Select which fluid properties to save with the cache. The properties are saved in the cache only if they are set to Dynamic Grid. For more information on these properties, see "Container contents" in Chapter 2.
Cache File Format
Single File
One
Creates a single cache file for the current fluid.
See Single file fluids cache and Create fluids cache files.
File per Frame
Creates a single cache file for each frame of the current fluid.
See One File per Frame (OFpF) fluids cache and Create a One Frame per File fluids cache.
Sampling Method
Oversampling and undersampling specify how often Maya calculates the fluid simulation per frame.
Over
A Rate value of 2 or larger increases the precision of the cached fluid but slows down the caching.
Under
A Rate value of 2 or larger decreases the precision of the cached fluid, but quickens the caching operation. For example, if the Under Sampling Rate is 2, Maya calculates the simulation once every two frames. The resulting contents of the fluid between these two frames will be interpolated from the values stored in the cache.
Sampling Rate
Set an integer value for the Over Sampling or Under Sampling.
