Delete and truncate cache files

You may want to delete or truncate you cache for one of the following reasons:

To delete a cache, you can use one of two methods:

Deletes the entire cache for the fluid.

Deletes the cache from the current frame forward.

Be aware that if you disable the fluid solver (rather than the cache), you also disable playback of the cache and will not be able to create a cache for your fluid.

To delete a cache

  1. Select the fluid container with the cache you want to delete.
  2. Select Fluid Effects > Delete Cache or click

    .

Maya deletes the entire cache for the fluid.

To truncate a cache

  1. Select the fluid container with the cache you want to truncate.
  2. Move to the frame where you want to truncate the cache.
  3. Select Fluid Effects > Truncate Cache or click .

Maya deletes the cache from the next frame forward. For example, if you truncate a 1-100 frame cache at frame 20, then frames 21-100 are deleted.
