The SECTIONPLANE command creates a section object that exposes the interior details of a model created with 3D objects. Once you create a section object, you can move and manipulate it to fine-tune the sectional view you want. On the dashboard, click the Section Plane button on the 3D Make control panel. You can create the section object using several options. The Orthographic option is a quick way for creating the section object because you just specify an orthographic orientation relative to the UCS. The Front option is used so that the section object cuts the front side of the bottle midway down its center. Notice the transparent plane. That is called a section plane indicator. Because the section object is created using the Ortho option, live sectioning is automatically turned on. Live sectioning visually differentiates 3D objects on either side of the section plane indicator. Like other AutoCAD objects, the section plane indicator can be moved, scaled, and rotated. As its position is changed, you can see different views of the bottle’s interior in real-time. To see a different view of the bottle’s interior, the section plane indicator is rotated 90 degrees using the midpoint of the section line as the base point.
