You can create a new solid or surface by sweeping an open or closed planar curve (profile) along an open or closed 2D or 3D path.
This animation illustrates how to sweep a circle along a helix.
First, draw a small circle of the same thickness you want the helix turns to be shaped.
If you draw a circular object, the object you sweep will have a circular dimension.
If you draw a rectangular object, the object you sweep will have a rectangular dimension. On the dashboard, click the Sweep button.
Select the circle and then the helix.
The circle is swept along the helix, creating a 3D solid object similar to a spring or a coil.
