Paint > Eraser > Clear canvas layer

Erases the whole content of the image layer at once.

Simply select the layer, then choose Paint > Eraser > Clear canvas layer. All the paint is removed, but the image layer remains.

This tool is also found in the Edit menu of the Canvas Layer Editor.
