Paint Edit > Color correction > Dodge

Use the Dodge window to easily lighten an image layer. Please note that these changes happen only to the current layer.

This tool is based on the traditional photography technique of holding back light to lighten an area on the film.

Dodge lightens areas of an image (highlights, shadows, midtones or all tones) as if a bright light of the selected color was projected on them.

Choose an Adjustment Type. The Adjustment type determines which range of color values will be modified. You may choose to modify:

All color tones
Only highlight
Only midtones
Only shadows

Adjust the Dodge Factor and Color sliders to update the image on the bottom, for comparison with the original image at the top.The smaller the values, the finer the adjustment.

To change the color of the "light", click on the color swatch to open the color editor.
