Limitations fixed
General
![]()
Previously when Anti-aliasing was enabled via the AliasStudio General Preferences you would see a progressively blurred image with successive marquee selections in a model view. This has been fixed.
![]()
Opening a large wire file no longer requires more load time on subsequent retrievals.
![]()
The following tools have been improved, and now work properly when construction history is suspended globally:
- Curve Edit > Modify > Stretch
- Curve Edit > Modify > Transform curve
- Object Edit > Align > Align
- Object Edit > Object editor
Construction history is suspended by clicking the small "H" to the right of the prompt line and choosing Suspend Rebuilds. (If no H icon appears, then no history is present in the model).
![]()
Multiple versions of tools that have Simple and Advanced tabs in their editors now work correctly on shelves.
![]()
When TIFF files are exported from AliasStudio, the file extention used is .tif now rather than .tiff in previous releases.
![]()
Look At correctly respects layer symmetry, enabling it to be used to vusually examine a surface.
![]()
The birail icon correctly updates in the Control Panel, based on the number of generation and rail curves chosen in the editor window.
![]()
WindowDisplay > Toggles > Grid now works for all modeling windows the first time it is invoked, even when the windows have different grid states.
![]()
Looking at a spotlight through the Spot View window (Render > Multi-lister) no longer disables the Point of Interest functionality the first time it is used.
![]()
You can now drag and drop files into AliasStudio while using Animation > Turntable
without any problems.
Modeling
![]()
Transformer rig and lattice rig: Previously in version 13, if a user requested to raise the degree of the target NURBS surfaces, (or use the accurate fitter, which raises to degree 5 by default), the dynamic shape modification tools would generate multi-knots in the output target surfaces. In v13.5, this has been fixed. If the incoming targets are all free of multiknots, the output from the transformer rig and lattice rig will not have any multiknots. However, for those input surfaces that have multi-knots, the tools will not try to remove them.
![]()
Rebuild curve > check deviation provides correct results.
![]()
The curvature combs no longer distort when a construction plane is toggled.
![]()
Transparency now renders correctly in diagnostic shading.
![]()
Previously, you could inadvertently untrim an invisible surface by accidentally picking it when untrimming nearby surfaces. To prevent this from occurring, we have added a warning confirm box if picked nodes contain invisible nodes.
![]()
Creating curves or lines while in a construction plane no longer resets the window.
![]()
The Hide Unselected tool now works correctly; lights, camera and texture nodes do not get hidden unless toggled ON.
![]()
You can now curve snap blend points to section data.
![]()
In/Out Draft shading now displays correctly in the presence of a transform in Diagnostic Shading and Surface Evaluation .
![]()
IsoAngle texture maps display correctly in the presence of a transform with non-proportional scale.
![]()
Trimming a curve with a coincident curve-on-surface is easier now: a pick-chooser menu enables you to select the right curve.
![]()
Trim Convert works correctly on a surface even if a trim edge is composed of multiples curves-on-surface.
![]()
Curvature plots on objects with the same shape but different transforms will now have similar scale. (Note: this change does not solve the same problem with non-proportional scaling.)
![]()
Using orient normals does not cause curvature combs to appear on the concave side of some surfaces anymore.
Visualization
![]()
When mapping a solid projection and choosing a camera projection, when you select Create after choosing a camera from the list of all cameras with image planes attached, a shader is created for you using that image plane. In V13, nothing would happen afte selecting Create.
![]()
237455
Diagnostic Shade > Single Color > Highlights >Fast now works in conjunction with the Show Reverse Normals option. In V13.5, surfaces with reversed normals will be shaded yellow as expected.
![]()
Diagnostic Shading works correctly if the Control Panel Reversed Normals and Reflection options are set to ON.
![]()
Animated textures update correctly in playback in Display Toggles > Hardware shade.
![]()
Shaders with embedded textures are no longer copied when the object to which they are assigned is copied and pasted.
![]()
Unused layered shaders are now correctly deleted when Delete unused shaders is chosen from the Visualization panel.
![]()
Using Project Sketch and Convert solid texture together now works correctly.
![]()
File type extensions are now added to rendered image names (when an extension is not specified). The extension is determined by the Image filetype in Render > Globals.
![]()
Hardware Shade will no longer check for missing file textures during each draw. It will look once and display the missing file texture image in its place until the texture is updated through the multilister or file references window. This fix will provide a performance increase for files with missing file references.
![]()
Image planes now scale correctly in the camera editor.
![]()
Layered Shaders are no longer duplicated when their associated geometry is copied and pasted.
![]()
The problem where models containing surfaces created by the Round tool failed to render (in cases where Solid Textures were used) doesn't occur anymore.
![]()
When using a Custom Shader Library in the Visualize Control Panel (Shader Library > Change Library), the list of default reflected environments available in Diagnostic Shading remains available. (This list is visible in the Scene lister in the option section of Diagnostic Shading when Multi Color shading mode is selected).
Sketching
![]()
Canvases (standard and overlay) can now be printed from a Perspective or Paint window. Only the geometry will be printed.
![]()
Stamps now have higher quality when scaling down texture brushes.
![]()
A "Reset" button has been added to improve your ability to reset brush symmetry horizontally or vertically.
![]()
Shape warps, when created from a semi-transparent layer, now have full opacity when they are created.
![]()
Freehand sketching in a perspective view with curve snap on now works correctly.
![]()
"Isolate Layer" functionality was removed in V13, but has now been restored. Click on the Display all/current layer button in the Canvas Layer Editor to show only the content of the active layer in the view windows.
![]()
In the New Canvas option box, changing the Pixels per mm (or in) value will update the size of the canvas in pixels, not the size in mm (or in).
