File > Open

Retrieves previously saved files, including wireframe models and foreign data formats from client machines.

To add the data from a file to the current scene, use File > Import > File .

As Reference

Check this box to automatically create a reference layer and place all geometry from the file in it.

Note that some file formats have no options.
