Although they share the same file type, Autodesk VIZ files and 3ds Max files are quite a bit different. This topic describes some of the differences, and recommends ways to obtain the desired results from your files.
Many times, when you open a MAX file from 3ds Max, you will be presented with a Missing External Files dialog. To locate the missing files, click Browse and then add the appropriate 3ds Max directories to the Configure External File Paths dialog.
