Select an object. > Right-click to open the quad menu. > Display quadrant > Freeze Selection's Layer

This command freezes the layer of the current selection. To unfreeze this layer, choose Unfreeze all from the quad menu or use the Layer Manager.

Note: You cannot edit or select objects on a frozen layer.
