To create HM SPRING elements:

1. Select the Collectors toolbar button .

or

Select Collectors from the Organize pull-down menu.

2. Select the create subpanel.

3. Click the upper switch and select properties.

4. Enter a property name after name=.

5. Click card image= and select HM_ELAS.

6. Click create/edit.

7. There are three choices for each DOF: FREE, RIGID, and spring constant.

To enter a spring constant:

-     Select the appropriate DOF switch from the options list.

-     Type in the spring constant value under the appropriate DOF label in the card image.

To select the RIGID option:

-      Ensure the appropriate DOF switch is unselected in the options list.

-      Click the button under the DOF label in the card image and select RIGID from the pop-up menu.

To select the FREE option:

-       Ensure the appropriate DOF switch is unselected in the options list.

-       Click the button under the DOF label in the card image and select FREE from the pop-up menu.

8. Click return.

9. Select the element types panel on the 1D page.

10. Select the 1D subpanel.

11. Click spring= and select the HMSPRING element type.

12. Click return.

13. Select the springs panel on the 1D page.

14. Select the create subpanel.

15. Click property= and select the property with the HM_ELAS card image loaded.

16. Click the orientation vector toggle switch to no vector.

17. While the upper node is highlighted, select end A from the graphics window.

18. While the lower node is highlighted, select end B from the graphics window.

On selecting end B, HyperMesh creates the HMSPRING element.
