GAPCMPL

YES, 1, NO, or 0

Default = YES

Include or do not include gap compliance in the calculation of global compliance.

If YES or 1, then gap compliance will be included in the calculation of global compliance.

If NO or 0, then gap compliances will not be included in the calculation of global compliance.

Note:

In some cases, such as with gap elements that have initial penetration (U0<0), gap elements may produce negative contributions to the global compliance. While this is a legitimate situation (the gap is releasing elastic energy, rather than accumulating it), it may cause the global compliance to be negative and consequently make optimization impossible. In such cases, the GAPCMPL parameter can be used to turn off the contributions of gap elements to the compliance calculation.
