To define the objective function:

To define a single objective:

1. Select the optimization panel on the Analysis page and select the objective panel.

or

Select Objective from the Optimization pull-down menu.

2. Click on the switch and choose min or max.

3. Click on response = and select the desired response.

If the selected response requires a loadstep (subcase), a loadstep selector will appear in the panel on selecting the response.

4. Click on loadsteps (if it exists) and select the appropriate loadstep.

5. Click create.

To define a minmax (minimize the maximum of) or maxmin (maximize the minimum of) objective:

1. Select the optimization panel on the Analysis page and select the obj reference panel.

or

Select Obj Reference from the Optimization pull-down menu.

2. Click on dobjref = and enter a name.

3. Click on response = and select the desired response.

4. Activate and enter reference values for neg reference = and/or pos reference =.

5. When required, adjust the toggle to select a loadstep (subcase).

6. Click create.

7. Repeat steps 2 through 6 to define other objectivereferences if required.

8. Select the optimization panel on the Analysis page and select the objective panel.

9. Click on the switch and choose minmax or maxmin.

10. Click on dobjrefs and select the desired objectivereferences from the list.

11. Click create.
