A swept protrusion or cutout cannot intersect itself. The illustration on the left shows a successful swept protrusion defined by a path (or trace curve) containing a radius (A) and a rectangular cross section (B). If the width of the cross section were increased as shown on the right, the protrusion would not recompute because the larger cross section would cause a self-intersection at the inside of the radius (C).
